Eight international narrative shorts presented in one program. The Ann Arbor Jewish Film Festival is very grateful to Mr. Pierluigi Erbaggio for putting together this short film program.

Mum’s Hairpins by Tatyana Fedorovskaya, set in Ukraine, 1941, where Yasha, a young Jewish boy, escapes when the Germans arrive at his home, with only his mother’s box of hairpins. - In Russian with English subtitles
White Eye by Tomer Shushan, an Academy Award nominated short film that compellingly depicts the perils of illegal immigration through the story of an Israeli man who tries to reclaim a stolen bike while struggling to retain his humanity. - In Hebrew with English subtitles
Letters to God by Yves Cohen, the heart-wrenching tale of an embittered, grieving father, confronted by strange events, who must learn to forgive; - In Hebrew with English subtitles
Deep Blue by Itamar Schwartz which follows Zvi, a man who tries to operate a washing machine without success while mourning the death of his wife; - In Hebrew with English subtitles
Cinema Rex by Mayan Engelman & Eliran Peled: an animated film set at a famed 1930s Jerusalem cinematheque where a Jewish boy and an Arab girl bond over their love of movies; - In Arabic, Hebrew, and English with English subtitles
In Our Synagogue by Ivan Orlenko, a Kafka-esque fable with a young boy obsessed over the meaning of strange animal sightings at a ragged old Eastern European synagogue; - In Yiddish with English subtitles
The Disappearing Act by Billy Kent in which a magician, booked for a bar mitzvah via Zoom, rehearses his virtual act for a disinterested mom with a sleight-of-hand trick of her own; - In English
and The Book of Ruth by Becca Roth in which a Jewish grandmother’s secret identity surfaces in a conversation with her granddaughter after a Passover seder. - In English
