YFC 2020: Intro to Filmmaking

For the kids who dream of making movies, this one-week camp is an opportunity to learn the basics of the filmmmaking process by producing, directing, and editing short films. We will provide digital camcorders and computers with professional editing software. Participants just need to bring creativity and a willingess to collaborate!
A screening of all films created during the camp will take place on Saturday, July 25 at the Michigan Theater.

This camp is recommended for first-time filmmakers and those who have never been to a Michigan Theater film camp in the past.

About the Scholarship Program

Each year, the Michigan Theater offers three full-tuition scholarships to Young Filmmakers’ Camp. Three campers, one for each week of film camp, will be selected to receive these scholarships. We believe no student or family should be discouraged from applying to Young Filmmakers’ Camp because of lack of funds. We welcome a broad cross section of families who believe in their children and in their ability to succeed.


APPLY ONLINE:

  • Complete this application online, this includes a typed essay (300-500 words) from your child about why they are interested in filmmaking, what they are hoping to learn from this camp, and what their favorite movie is and why.
  • New! If your child is not selected to receive a scholarship and you still want to attend, you will need to register for the appropriate week.

Scholarship application deadline is Friday, March 31, 2020 at 11:59PM; Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 6, 2020.
